Update: The deal below is still live over at Walmart after quickly going out of stock. The Amazon price match has come and gone, but we will keep an eye out for its return.
Some folks weren’t exactly stoked about the recent Amazon price drops on the now previous-generation M1 iPad Air starting from $449. I get it, but that is $150 under the price of entry on the new model despite it having double the storage space, and Walmart has now taken things even further. It is offering the base-tier Apple M1 10.9-inch iPad Air with 64GB of storage down at $399 shipped in various colorways. This model carried a $599 list before being superseded by the new M2 models (they are seeing early deals by the way), and is now $200 below that. Again the new base model M2 starts with 256GB of storage at $599, but today’s deal is $200 below that as well, making for notable clearance pricing for folks not overly concerned with the latest and greatest from Apple – this is still a great tablet if you ask me, all things considered, and a personal favorite of mine. More details below.
The M1 64GB model is still on sale at Amazon for $449 – we could see a price match at $399 at some point, but it’s hard to say. Today’s deal from Walmart is $50 under the Amazon all-time low on this previous-generation configuration too.
For some, it might just make more sense to wait for the new 256GB M2 entry-level Air model to come down in price, or to just spend more cash now while it’s seeing early deals from $570 at Amazon. For others, saving as much cash as possible is the name of the game, despite the lack of the new M2 chip and the potential features you might get locked out of because of it.
The M1 iPad Air delivers a 10.9-inch Retina display with True Tone, P3 wide color, and an anti-reflective coating. You’ll also find Touch ID in the power button and a 12MP Ultra Wide front camera with Center Stage support.
But if you’re looking for the most affordable current Apple iPad, the 10th generation model is still in the starting lineup and has now been dropped to $334 at Amazon after Apple officially slashed the MSRP during its Let Loose event last week.
