Coming to us straight out of CES 2025, Pawport is lifting the veil on its second-generation Smart Pet Door today. Designed for pet owners with active fur babies that regularly come and go, this new device builds upon its predecessor from last year’s event to deliver style, security, weatherproofing, and well-rounded functionality. The startup is offering three different series at this year’s CES, providing various levels of aesthetic options and pricing to suit pet owners’ needs.
Pawport unveils next-gen smart pet door at CES 2025
This new model comes with an abundance of choices, offering 13 finishes across three series (with three sizes for each) – standard, designer, and signature – all of which are designed to fit existing pet doors you might already have. For those without existing pet doors, the complete system has you covered to begin your journey.
The most affordable option is the standard model, starting at a list price of $499, which has a steel construction and strong composite plastic doors with a durable paint and top coat. The designer and signature series ramp up the security features with steel and heavy-duty, air-craft grade aluminum doors. The designer model comes finished with scratch-resistant materials in both neutral and color options while the signature series elevates the aesthetics higher with subtle texture mimicking natural wood grains.
These smart doors work by connecting to a lightweight, waterproof smart collar tag that activates the doors to open when your pet is nearby and in motion, ensuring only the animals you want to enter and exit your home have access (preventing pests/insects from invading too). There are also remote smart controls via the companion app, enabling a bunch of features like management controls, curfew and scheduling capabilities, pet-specific tracking/usage data, and voice controls via Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri.
Features at a glance:
- Two-door system for ultimate security
- Pet curfew and weather detection settings
- Pet tracking insights
- Safety designs that prevent accidental closing on pets
- Multiple power options
- LED light customization
- Accessories to compliment doors and accommodate pet-specific needs
Not only do these new models keep your pets and home safe from outdoor wildlife, but through the Pawport app you’ll be able to customize schedules to make sure your fur babies are kept inside at night and during inclement weather, with features like rain/lightning detection. Not only that, but the app will also provide insights into your pet’s activities, with notifications for when pets enter and exit through the door. That’s not all, as the app also gives you information like total outdoor ventures, durations of those ventures, general resting times, and more.
There’s also controls for the device’s built-in LED lights, allowing you to adjust colors and brightness levels from millions of combinations, as well as schedule the lights to go on and off as you please.
You won’t have to fear anything going awry either, as the equipped gauges work on sensitive settings to keep the system from closing on pets who may hang out in the doorway. Other smart controls allow for the disabling of the top panel so infants and toddlers can’t activate the controls to crawl through.
There are plenty of options to power these smart doors too, like the option for a rechargeable battery pack that is concealed within the door and lasts for up to a month on a single charge. You can also plug it into a wall outlet via its USB-C plug, which can be hidden inside the wall using the company’s hardwire kit. It even comes with a choice to install a solar panel to extend the door’s battery lifespan using the sun’s rays. If your power ever goes out with the battery pack installed, no worries there, as it will remain running as normal without relying on Wi-Fi or AC power.
Lastly, there will be an assortment of accessories to accompany your new smart doors, like an integrated ramp, a tunnel expansion for when the door will be placed going through walls, premium collars to match doors, a turf mat to keep entering paws clean, and much more.
While there is no official release date set just yet, Pawport assures customers that it will begin hitting the market in early 2025, with preorders open and providing $150 in early-bird savings. Prices will start at $499 shipped.
