The new Sony XM6 over-ear headphones have officially arrived now and we have loved every second of our hands-on time with them. Clearly one of the most anticipated headphone releases and the year and easily the most popular among 9to5Toys readers thus far, for some the in-ear buds solutions are where it’s at and we now spotted a solid discount on all three of colors of the still current-generation Sony WF-1000XM5 Noise Canceling Earbuds down at $198 – you’ll also find these buds marked down directly from Sony at $199.99 shipped.

Regularly $200, you’ll now find the black, silver, and smoky pink models marked down to $198 shipped. This is over $100 off the going rate and matching the holiday deal we featured at the end of 2024. It was rare to see these beloved buds fall below the regular $248 and $228 deals we featured at Amazon throughout 2024, but today’s deal lands on par wit the lowest price we have tracked on Amazon outside of a couple very short-lived offers down at $180 that only lasted for a day or so (and some YMMV in-store offers). 

While there is still no official word as of yet on a successor to the XM5 buds, even if Sony does replace them at some point this year with the next-gen set you’re almost certainly not going to be landing a set of those at $100 off any time soon – never mind the potential MSRP price hike they might launch with.
