Xbox ROG Ally is said to be available for pre-orders on August 20
This new report, which comes from a credible source with reliable track record, claims the upcoming Xbox-branded Ally handhelds will be up for pre-order starting next month. It says we’ll be able to pre-order them starting August 20, which – in case you’re wondering – is one day after Gamescom Opening Night Live show and on the first day of the official show where Xbox will have a live broadcast. Microsoft did say the handhelds will be on the show floor for some hands-on time, but it looks like it’s also planning to put them on sale the same day.

There’s no official word on pricing yet, but a leak from earlier this month gave us a pretty clear idea of what to expect. For now, it looks like the Xbox Ally X and Ally will be priced at €899 and €599, respectively. It remains to be seen how much they will cost in the U.S., but it’s reasonable to expect the upcoming devices to be priced similarly to the existing Ally and Ally X in the U.S., which currently retail for $649.99 and $899.99 shipped, respectively. We’ll have more to talk about the handhelds and their prices once we have more details, so be sure to stay tuned. In the meantime, you might want to check out our coverage of the official announcement right here to learn more about their specifications in detail.
