This year’s IFA event in Berlin has already given us many new tech reveals, with a bunch of robotic lawn mowers showcased amongst them, but there’s one that is standing out amongst the crowd with its very unique concept design. Coming from MOVA’s sub-brand, NexLawn, we’ve been introduced to the Master X Series Concept, described as “the first robotic mower with a fully functional mechanical arm.” What’s more, this arm isn’t being planned to limit itself only to mowing-related jobs, with more versatility thanks to interchangeable attachments – including pet interactions too! Head below to learn more about this ambitious robot.
Now, to start, it should be obvious to most that the use of “concept” in its name means that this is not a current consumer-ready model that you can buy anywhere, but instead points in a direction to which its design might end up. Whether we’ll actually see this idea evolve into a physical release is yet to be known, but it is quite the ambitious step forward in the robot market.
The mechanical arm is, of course, the sole focus of this design, with it intended to better help folks out with everyday manual tasks and maintenance that robot owners will tend to come across, particularly for picking up sticks, branches, and other debris that might cause damage to the robot or lead its navigation to avoid certain areas while working.
It can extend up to 30+ inches in order to reach up to one meter away to perform various outdoor tasks, with it also folds down to around 17.5 inches. The brand also says that it would feature several interchangeable attachments for the arm to expand its versatility, such as a multi-gripper, a trimmer head, and edging disc head, and more – with the brand claiming it would be capable of “trimming, weeding, fruit picking, and even pet interaction,” with videos showing an example of the latter by throwing a ball for a dog. Whether or not any dog would generally want to play with something that is obviously not human remains to be seen, and as I stated, there’s a good chance this remains a concept and never goes further.
Still, it’s an ambitious idea for the next evolution in robot lawn mowers and robot assistance in general, and we will certainly update you with more information on this Master X Series Concept should it bear fruit into actual future endeavors by the brand.
