The very first price drop has arrived on Apple’s brand new Qi2.2 25W MagSafe Charger courtesy of Amazon. Apple somewhat quietly released a new 25W MagSafe charger alongside the new iPhone 17/Pro, iPhone Air, and iPhone Air MagSafe Battery last week. The new charger delivers the same 25W speeds as the second-generation model from last year, up from the 15W on the model before that, but this time it arrives with proper Qi2.2 support (as far as we can tell) – it can deliver 25W of juice to more than just iPhone 16 models.

Amazon is now offering the new 2-meter Apple MagSafe Charger for $42.99 shipped, down from the regular $49 list price. This isn’t a giant deal but it is nearly 15% off and the very first discount we have tracked anywhere on the brand new model.

As you can see from the imagery, the new 2025 edition is for the most part identical to last year’s model in terms of the build and form-factor – a woven USB-C cable attached to Apple’s magnetic charging puck.

The only real difference we can see between this one and the previous model, outside of the fact that Apple doesn’t sell the other one anymore, is that this time around it is “certified for Qi2 25W and Qi charging,” so it can be used to “wirelessly charge your iPhone 8 or later, as well as AirPods models with a wireless charging case.” This presumably means it can deliver 25W of juice to more than just iPhone 16 and 17 models (last year’s version could only provide the max 25W to iPhone 16), but also any Qi2.2-ready device that can ingest 25W, like say the new Pixel 10 devices.

Along with the launch of iOS 26, all iPhone 16 models, save for the 16e, and iPhone 17 phones can handle a Qi2 25W charge. Apple does say you need to connect its new MagSafe Charger with a 30W power adapter to hit those speeds with it though.

There isn’t a ton of hard data on the differences out there, but this is what we can pull from the official Apple listings and the like.

Unlike with the release of last year’s model, and with the emergence of Qi2.2 in the third-party market, Apple is no longer the only game in town when it comes to 25W magnetic wireless charging – scope out some of the new gear we have featured supporting the new Qi2.2 charging below:

Apple MagSafe Charger (2025) features:

The MagSafe Charger makes wireless charging a snap. The perfectly aligned magnets attach to compatible iPhone models. The MagSafe Charger provides faster wireless charging up to 25W when paired with a 30W power adapter.

The MagSafe Charger is certified for Qi2 25W and Qi charging, so it can be used to wirelessly charge your iPhone 8 or later, as well as AirPods models with a wireless charging case.
