9to5Toys’ Take
I detailed the brand’s Heritage Leather Case for iPhone 16 Pro last year, so this year I thought I would take look at the same model, but for Apple’s new wildly thin iPhone Air.
First and foremost, we are once again looking at a proper leather case here constructed from full-grain hide that actually feels like leather in your hands. There are far too many leather cases out there that are so thin, it barely feels like there’s a piece of material between your hand and the phone – it might as well just be plastic or silicone. This is both where the Burton Goods Heritage Leather Case for iPhone Air is a bit of a gift and a curse:
On one hand it truly feels like an actually piece of leather in your hand and really looks like it too. On the other hand, it’s not quite as thin as some of the silicone and plastic models I have been testing out. It’s not overly thick by any means, but we are already talking about an incredibly slender phone so every millimeter of thickness really counts and is all the more obvious – if you’re looking for a proper leather vibe, definitely consider this case, but if you want the thinnest possible sheath just to safeguard your ultra-thin Air, look elsewhere.
Okay so that’s that, I love the leather, I love the hand-stitching details, and, after reading what I just wrote above, if you like the look of this thing in the imagery here, you will too.

Buttons…oh the buttons. These are some of the nicest buttons around for me. They stick out of the phone case a little bit more than some perhaps, but they are incredibly clicky and addictive to touch. I personally love the the look and feel here, but I would have perhaps wanted the option to have a silvered color on them – the black buttons look fantastic with my black iPhone Air, but not as much on my colleague’s light gold model.

One thing Burton Goods briefly stumbled on last year, alongside loads of other brands, was the Camera Control button. The cutout it provided on the very first run of cases just wasn’t perfect, and it quickly corrected that with second-gen 3/4 cutout. But it’s a new year and it now has a proper Camera Control cover that works wonderfully.

Beyond that, there’s not much to warn folks about – I wish the front lip was a touch smaller, I want an option to have some silvered buttons and camera bezel, but it is otherwise about as perfect as a handmade leather case can be in my opinion.
Some folks are clearly going to hate the stitching details on the back of the case – I quite like it. This really makes Burton Goods standout out in the fields of leather cases out there and it actually adds a bit of grip to the carry experience – this is actual stitching you can feel.
Burton Goods has been a favorite of mine for some time. Its special brand of leather craft certainly isn’t for everyone, but I think anyone that can appreciate handmade American goods should very much take a look here.
