Tested: MUJJO’s new Full Leather iPhone 17 Pro case with matching metal details – one of the best for the price

Right on cue, the new MUJJO leather iPhone 17 case lineup landed immediately after the new phone’s hit the virtual stage at this year’s “Awe dropping” event in Cupertino. They have been some of the best leather cases for the price for than a couple years, and now it’s time to see how its Full Leather fits on the new iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max.

MUJJO, alongside brands like Nomad, is one of those case makers that has been in my top picks for leather iPhone cases for a few years now. It will likely be once again. It’s not a perfect case, but it’s very close to it – let’s dive in.

The leather on the MUJJO Full Leather iPhone 17 Pro case, and presumably (almost certainly) those for the rest of the iPhone 17 lineup, is on the tighter and cleaner side.

It tend to think of leather cases in one of two camps; those that are super thin and closer to a synthetic material and those that are a bit thicker and obviously a real piece of leather in your hand. Both of them have their benefits, and MUJJO seems to sit right in the middle.

It’s obviously not as “real” feeling as say, something from Burton Goods, but it also a little bit more textured and pebbled than many of the super tight leather options out there. As described above this seems to come along with some good and some not so much – the feel is nicer and more textured (I like that a lot), but it is also a touch thicker and wraps around the display bezel a little bit further.

This leads me to what has to be my only real problem with this case – the front edge. It pops out around the display just a tiny bit too much for my liking. There’s an obvious ridge around the display, which both provides even more clearance/protection for your new iPhone 17/Pro/Max screen, but also gets in the way to some degree when you’re swiping nearer the top, bottom, and sides of the display. It’s not a major problem and not one I would leverage to sway folks away from this case, but it is one I would mention and something I wish just wasn’t there.

So let’s talk about the real highlights of this case – the metal. I love the combination of a leather case with metal buttons and frames around the camera array, and MUJJO is still one of the best in the game here. It employs a sort matching but yet accent color on the buttons, Camera Control cover, and on the bezel surrounding the camera plateau around back – it is simply gorgeous and really makes the case feel more premium.

Far too many leather case makers are slapping a black rim around the camera this year, and MUJJO isn’t – this allows the case to match wonderfully and the brown-on-slightly orange’d brown vibe looks brilliant against the Cosmic Orange for me.

If any of these details on the metal treatment and color sound like something you’re into, I highly recommend this case. If you seriously despise the idea of a slightly more raised front edge around the display, you might want to look elsewhere.

It’s not the absolute nicest leather out there, but it is one of, if not, the best in the price range at $49
