Leather iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands – Make sure this Texas-based Blue Bonnet gear is on your radar

We have explored many of the best full grain leather-focused accessory brands out there, but a new independent purist straight out on the lone star state was recently picked on our radar – Blue Bonnet. After getting our hands-on some of its iPhone 17 cases and Apple Watch bands, we think it should probably be on yours too.

Blue Bonnet was born in a small studio in Austin, Texas, delivering handmade leather goods the American way with subtle soft blue accent detailing heavily inspired by the namesake State flower. This sounds like something I can get behind.

There’s plenty of great accessory brands out there, but there is still something about these small US-based outfits that I’m drawn to, and Blue Bonnet is a great example here.

The indie, nearly one man operation that is Blue Bonnet has been turning out high-quality, handcrafted leather accessories for a little while now but we recently had a selection of its gear land in the 9to5Toys offices and we very much like what we are seeing here.

The gorgeous leather goods, much of which adorned with the brand’s namesake baby blue accent stitching, consists of a range of legit accessories – from iPhone cases and some particularly impressive Apple Watch bands, right through to journals with leather covers and more.

More specifically speaking, we have had a chance to test out its leather iPhone cases and the folio, wallet-style model, both of which are wonderful choices for those with an iPhone 17 and an affinity for leather goods. We are talking about sumptuous leather treatments here with some of the better button covers I have come across this year – the Minimalist Full-Grain Leather iPhone MagSafe Case in Saddle Tan is my favorite of the bunch:

  • Dedicated Camera Control Button
  • Wrapped with premium full-grain leather
  • Patented design where the leather luxuriously wraps around the camera bezel and extends over the edge
  • MagSafe & wireless charging compatible
  • Closed bottom and raised edge for protection
  • 1.5mm thickness adds thin, lightweight coverage
  • Interior-lined with luxurious microfiber with a satin-like finish
  • Develops a rich and beautiful patina

I seriously love its Maverick Italian Leather Apple Watch Band and the Companion Horween Leather Apple Watch Band (seen above)but it is this special navy blue Le Petit Prince x Bluebonnet leather model that is perhaps the most compelling and standout option among the sea of leather bands out there:

  • Italian calf leather strap and loop bands
  • Comes with two sets of quick-release Apple adapters, making it compatible with every Apple watch size/model and analog watches.
  • 4-layer strap process with fill
  • Calf inner lining
  • Polished silver buckle

This band reminds me of, and looks like something, that would come on a seriously high end timepiece from a luxury brand, a Vacheron or something along those lines, just without the luxury markup. Its certainly not cheap but it is very clear this is a high end strap and one you’re not paying for the name on the tag.

Blue Bonnet isn’t a new brand really, but it is one that is relatively new to us and one we think anyone with penchant for these sorts of leather Apple gear accessories should have on their radar this year. We haven’t had a chance to use this gear for much more than a couple months now, but so far so (very) good – you will certainly catch me using the cases and bands in real life, and Blue Bonnet has quickly shot up to the top of my personal favorite leather tech accessory short list with some the other major players in the space.
