Tested: Hands-on with Anker’s new Smart Display Nano Charger – as adorable as it is intelligent [Deal]

Anker unleashed its new Nano Charger with 45W max power, an onboard Smart Display, and 180-degree foldable plug at CES 2026 this year. It has been among the more popular releases around here thus far, and today is your last shot to land one with the launch deal down at $29.99. Head below for some of my hands-on thoughts.

Hands-on with the new Anker Nano Charger

The new Anker Nano Charger (45W, Smart Display, 180° Foldable) carries a $39.99 list price, but you can land it at $10 off for the rest of the day directly from Anker when added to the cart. It comes in the black colorway I have for review, as well as white, orange, and a light blue.

Features at a glance:

  • Smart iPhone Recognition with Care Mode (keeps temperatures lower when needed)
  • 45W Max Fast Charging with Smart Power Adjustment
  • Extends Battery Life
  • Pocket Size with Dual Foldable Prongs
  • Onboard display with live power stats and fun animations

9to5Toys’ Take

I think with something like this a fair question would have to be something like: Why would anyone care if there is a display on the wall charger?

I get it. The fair answer there is you definitely don’t. But if I’m honest I kind of totally do. It looks modern and high-tech – something display-worthy– and not the sort of unit you hope to just hide behind some furniture. It doesn’t actually matter all that much, but the on-screen avatar here is adorable, and the thing looks great.

The other point worth making here is the price – it’s not like you’re paying a fortune for this thing. So a better question might be: Is this charger’s display with the extra $10 or so you’ll spend on it by comparison to models without it? For me, the short answer is yes, but not because of its practically or functionality, more just because I love the way it looks – it immediately modernizes my setup without costing all that much more than one without it.

There is, of course, some functionality here though. While I’m not personally going to be paying all too much attention to what this little display provides it is capable of delivering of recognizing my iPhone Air the second I plug it in, delivering a trickle charge when the battery is already closer to full than not, and otherwise cranking out the full juice (or an appropriate amount) when it’s not.

You can also manually set the charger to Auto or Care mode – “care Mode keeps the charger 36°F cooler and your device battery 9°F cooler to help extend battery life.”

Again, not something other chargers can’t do, but I can certainly appreciate the intelligence here and the overall look and feel of the display’s reaction to my gear…and my touch. The on-screen avatar makes different faces and animates when you tap the button on top of the unit, alongside offering up the following three options/modes:

The actual physical outlet prongs are worth a sentence or two as well. While not something I have never seen before, there’s some helpful versatility here. They of course fold into the unit, which at this point is a must-have for me that makes the grab and go experience a much more tidy one. But they can also be positioned in two orientations to make the charger’s USB-C port more easily accessible in various situations. This is just a nice, and welcomed, little bonus feature if you ask me. You can also hold the button on the unit to flip the screen around too (as seen above).
