Tested: If this magnetic titanium and knit Alpine Loop-style band isn’t on your radar, it should be

Today we have the Aulumu C03 Snap Titanium Buckle Apple Watch Band on wrist. I have been eyeing some of the brand’s latest Apple Watch band releases and first up is the C03 – let’s see if this thing is worth the $60 price of entry.

9to5Toys’ Take

I have had my eye on this brand for a while – we have featured some Aulumu deals and new product launches – but I hadn’t had a chance to actually test out its latest Apple Watch bands until now. Some of its gear is admittedly a bit too industrial or futuristic-looking for me, but this sort of design sensibility does appeal to me when it doesn’t go overboard and the C03 band is a good example of this.

It features what I would call a high-quality fabric looped band. It’s slightly stretchy but delivers a much higher-quality than the budget, bargain bin competitors out there. It features a soft finish up against the wrist, but with some serious design interest by way of textured pattern work and intentional aesthetic stitching. It is very comfortable, and it perhaps even more so than Apple’s while offering a more unique look at the same time.

This leads us to the clasp mechanism, both in terms of functionality and looks.

A smart watch on a table

The visible metal side clasp here is clearly the standout feature for better or worse. And in my case, better. It delivers a rugged look and feel that is both functional and attractive for me. There’s a sort of dual clasping action here – the metal clasp is magnetic, but doesn’t entirely rely on it to remain secure as there’s also a small velcro tab that extends beyond the clasp and affixes to the remaining fabric on the strap itself. That’s is the small gray tab you see just north of the metal clasp that features an orange stitching detail – not only does it offer some extra reliability, but it also looks pretty cool and matches Apple Watch Ultra nicely too.

A smart watch in a box

The combination of the loop style band that offers some flexibility and this metal clasp makes for a sort of modern-looking Nato-style strap, something akin to the Alpine Loop that provides a somewhat asymmetrical and attractive look (as opposed to the super clean Trail Loop-style that is entirely minimalist and symmetrical all the way around the wrist). I’m a big fan of the Alpine Loop for a few reasons, including this, and I’m a fan of this implementation on the Aulumu C03 as well.

In short, if you like what you see from the imagery on this model, you more than likely won’t be disappointed. I wish it was more like $40 instead of $60, but I think it’s actually high enough quality to warrant even more than that. I might even argue that it is, aside from its far less minimalist design approach, comparable and of an equal or better quality to an official Apple band.
