Today Twelve South is stepping in to the portable charging game again with its new PowerCapsule. The new MagSafe-ready power bank lands with a special Twelve South design touch featuring a sort of cactus-based leather inlay and will be available for purchase today in 5,000mAh or 10,000mAh capacities.
New Twelve South PowerCapsule
Twelve South describes its new PowerCapsule as an “ultra-slim magnetic power bank designed for daily carry.” While I’m not sure its all that ultra-slim, it does look competitive in this regard and I can certainly appreciate the elevated aesthetics here – Twelve is making use of a satin-finished zinc alloy frame with a nice cactus-based soft-touch inlay (I presume this is a sort of cactus leather-like material).
PowerCapsule comes in 5,000mAh and 10,000mAh capacities and supports charging in two ways: wireless or wired via USB-C, as well as pass-through action so you can charge the phone while you’re juicing the onboard battery up at the same time.

I guess in the end, considering we are just looking at a Qi2-certified unit with wireless charging up to 15W, this is really just another power bank. The real standout feature here has to be the look and feel:
The back inlay uses a cactus-based luxury synthetic material derived from plants, chosen for its warm hand-feel and refined grip.
