Nomad has long been one of our favorites in the leather Apple gear accessory game. It makes some of the nicest iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands (among other things) in the business and it has just announced its new Camino leather lineup.
Nomad is perhaps best known for is tanned in America Horween leather accessories – it is sumptuous, retains the natural features of the material, and develops a wonderful patina faster than most. It does, however, come at a premium – this is where the new Camino leather comes in.
The Camino leather finishes Nomad has now introduced on a number of its latest iPhone case designs, leather wallets, and Apple Watch bands offers up a more affordable option by comparison to the Horween.
…we’ve listened closely to you, our incredible customers. While many of you love the rich character and rapid patina of our staple Horween leather, we began hearing a consistent request for something a little more livable. A leather that still felt authentic, but was a bit more forgiving in everyday use.
Nomad has teamed up with Danish tannery Ecco to develop its own full-grain leather, now known as Camino. It features “a subtle dimpled grain that adds visual depth while maintaining a refined look. And, like any high-quality leather, it carries that rich, authentic leather aroma.”

In other words it is a touch less premium by comparison to the Horween by the sounds of it – made from computer controlled tanning as opposed to a handmade treatments – but this also said to result in a more resilient finish:
It still feels unmistakably like real leather. Natural grain patterns give each piece its own character, and it will continue to age with time. At the same time, it’s designed to be more forgiving in daily life. You can slip your phone into a pocket with your keys, carry it through a full workday, or take it along on a weekend trip without worrying about every bump along the way.
Most importantly of all, it is more affordable. The Nomad Traditional Leather Case for iPhone 17 Pro, for example, sells for $85 with the Horween leather, but is now listed at $65 in the new Camino finish.
