M4 MacBook Air 512GB is $300 off at $899, but same M5 model is just $50 more right now

Alongside a re-stock on some of the 15-inch M4 MacBook Air models, we just spotted this 13-inch M4 MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM and the 512GB storage down at $899 shipped – but you can score the same M5 model for just $50 more right now as well.

We have tracked several notable deals on M4 models since the new M5 lineup arrived last month. While options quickly sold out at clearance pricing, some have now returned and are now joined by this particularly notable deal on the 16GB/512GB 13-inch – this is $300 off the original list price

The clearance deals on the less pricey 13-inch models have been hard to come by and we suspect this deal on the Sky Blue model will be very soon as well.

How does this compare to the new M5 MacBook Air pricing?

You’re looking at $300 off the original list on this M4 config but only $50 less than the all-time low deal price on the comparable M5 MacBook Air:

As seen above, the M5 machine with the same RAM and storage specs is $50 more than the M4 clearance deal above. This is clearly a more powerful machine with the newer M5 chip, and while not an insignificant price differential, perhaps worthy of an extra $50 for most folks. All things considered, the most affordable M5 MacBook Air carries a list price at $1,099 and if its wasn’t sitting at the $949 all-time low right now, the M4 would be $200 less, but it’s not right now.

I would save up or just splurge for the new model – there’s no denying the value in the still more than capable M4 machines at clearance pricing, but perhaps not on this 13-incher.
