While Donkey Kong already appeared in the Super Mario theme previously, new Donkey Kong LEGO sets are on the way after a new teaser hit official LEGO social channels today.
New LEGO Donkey Kong officially teased
The Kongs have appeared in the LEGO Super Mario theme more than a few times already, with sets like the Super Mario Diddy Kong’s Mine Cart Ride Expansion Set, Super Mario Dixie Kong’s Jungle Jam, and others. But it appears more is on the way and it looks like it might not just be more DK in the Super Mario theme.
It, of course, could just be a new lineup of DK sets in the existing Nintendo theme, to capitalize on the success of Donkey Kong: Bananza, but the new 3D game was such a hit it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Kongs get their very own theme too. Or perhaps just some new adult kits or Smart Brick-compatible options?
It is unclear at this point what this will be, but I’m sure the leaks will land soon enough. No pricing, release dates, or anything along those lines were announced. I personally would prefer these were actual minifigure sets set to land alongside the Mario minifigure sets LEGO already teased, but that might be wishful thinking.
