Only the 1TB variant of this SSD appears to be in stock right now, and you can get it in Silver and Cosmic Orange finishes.

The standout feature of ORICO’s iFolder Go external SSD is undoubtedly its distinctive folder-inspired design. In a market crowded with nearly identical-looking external drives, this one immediately sets itself apart with a shell that’s hard to mistake for anything else. It may not be the slimmest or the most compact SSD around, but it remains lightweight enough for everyday carry and includes thoughtful details like built-in lanyard holes for added portability.
The overall build feels premium in hand, with a clean finish and subtle branding that doesn’t overwhelm the design. It’s the kind of drive I’d happily use daily – it’s likely to draw some attention for its looks. When it comes to performance, the ORICO iFolder Go is rated for transfer speeds of up to 460MB/s over a 5Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 1 connection. After putting it through a round of testing, I can confirm that the drive does a solid job of squeezing nearly all the performance possible out of its interface. In my tests, it delivered sequential speeds of up to 415MB/s read and 401MB/s write. These figures land very close to ORICO’s advertised claims, and places it right alongside other similarly specced SSDs on the market. It’s safe to say that the iFolder Go is a reliable option for daily file transfers, media backups, document storage, and general organization tasks.
That being said, I’d like to point out that this isn’t designed for professional-grade creative workflows. Compared to ORICO’s K20 Mini SSD – which we previously tested at speeds reaching 2,000MB/s with strong sustained performance for demanding workloads – the iFolder Go is clearly limited by its 5Gb/s interface.
It can handle short bursts of 4K60 ProRes recording on devices like the iPhone 15 and 16 Pro, comfortably clearing Apple’s 220MB/s requirement during brief sessions. However, its sustained write performance drops during longer recording sessions, making it less than ideal for continuous filmmaking or heavier production workloads. The 5Gb/s interface also rules it out entirely for newer workflows tied to the iPhone 17 Pro, such as 4K120fps recording or ProRes RAW, which require a 10Gb/s drive capable of maintaining at least 440MB/s sustained write speeds.
None of that makes the iFolder Go a weak performer, though – it simply isn’t built for power users or professional content creators. It’s an efficient and capable option for everyday use cases like backups, moving files, storing important documents, or managing media libraries. But if your workflow involves sustained high-bandwidth recording, professional editing, or mobile cinematography, you’ll want to step up to a faster 10Gb/s or higher-performance external SSD. It’s also hard to argue against the value you’re getting here at its discounted $104 price for 1TB storage, and it’s also great for folks looking to pick up something new and different from the typical external drives out there.
