Ember debuted its latest Mug 3 smart heated coffee mug just a couple of weeks back, bringing a handful of meaningful upgrades over the previous generation. It initially debuted through Ember’s own storefront and has since started making its way to other major retailers, and you can now finally pick it up at Amazon as well. The new Ember Mug 3 starts at $129.95 shipped for the 10-oz model, while the larger 14-oz version goes for $149.95 shipped. Head below for a closer look and more details.
Ember’s dishwasher safe Smart Mug 3 now up for grabs at Amazon
The biggest upgrade this time around is that the new Ember Mug 3 is finally dishwasher-safe. It’s the first model in the lineup to support dishwasher cleaning, which is a pretty meaningful quality-of-life improvement over previous-gen models that had to be washed by hand. There are a couple of caveats, though, as Ember recommends using only the top rack and sticking to a low-temperature cycle to protect the electronics and finish. Despite those restrictions, it still makes the new Mug 3 considerably easier to clean and live with on a daily basis. The included sliding lid can go in there too, but the charging coaster obviously stays out.
Ember has made a few other useful changes this time around too. The new Mug 3 now has controls directly on the mug, letting you cycle between five preset temperatures from 125°F to 145°F without reaching for your phone. A row of indicator lights on the front shows the selected temperature and battery level, while the Ember app is still available if you want finer control.
Speaking of the lid, Ember now includes one in the box and says it can help keep your drink warm for more than three hours on a charge. Without it, Ember rates the 10-oz model for around 90 minutes at 135°F and the 14-oz version for around 80 minutes, while leaving either mug on the included charging coaster gives you essentially all-day use.
The 10-oz Ember Mug 3 comes in black and white, while the larger 14-oz model is available in a much wider range of finishes, including Sage Green, Sandstone, Salt Blue, Matcha Green, Lavender, and Powder Blue. Between the new dishwasher-safe design, on-mug temperature controls, and broader color selection, Mug 3 feels like a much more polished and convenient version of Ember’s familiar heated mug formula.
