Wyze is debuting its all-new Video Doorbell v2, a new wired 2K video recording camera. Now available for purchase, with this camera, you’ll be able to capture and save all arrivals and departures with head-to-toe viewing and two-way audio.

The Video Doorbell v2 Camera is a new offering from Wyze, a company founded by three former Amazon employees to “make great technology accessible to everyone.” It is an upgraded 2K-capable wired doorbell camera with a head-to-toe view of your porch, two-way audio to talk to visitors, and local recording via a microSD card. It even offers color night vision thanks to its starlight sensor that amplifies low light into vivid color images.
Designed with a slim and sleek black frame, one of the key features that make this a standout device is its capability for 24/7 recording with a subscription – so long as you have either purchased the camera with an included microSD card or purchased a microSD card (up to 256 GB) to install into the device.
It’s okay if you choose not to buy a microSD card as well, as you won’t have to purchase the subscription and will still receive free 12-second recordings when the doorbell is pressed. This is a rare bonus to get for free from most security cameras, as most companies still require a subscription to receive such privileges. You’ll receive up to 14 days of this free cloud storage for these clips from the moment the microSD card is left out or ejected.
It also includes up to six seconds of pre-roll recorded video in order to capture any events leading up to a motion-activated event, so you’ll always be able to have the full context of whatever happens outside your door. It even has a motion-activated voice deterrence that can be enabled, alerting anyone spotted by the camera that they’re being recorded.
It can even distinguish between a person moving to your door to knock or ring the bell and a person dropping off a package, so you won’t need to sit around waiting for the confirmation email from a delivery service. This feature does require Wyze’s CamPlus subscription, which starts from $2 a month and also adds cloud storage for full-length motion-activated recordings.
Installation is fairly straightforward, and you won’t have to bypass or sacrifice your home’s existing chime/bell when you upgrade to this smart doorbell, either. You can keep things the way you like while easily improving your current home security.

The Wyze Video Doorbell v2 Cam is now available for purchase with a $39.99 price tag for the camera alone or a $54.99 price tag for the camera and a 128 GB microSD card on wyze.com. However, you will have to pay for shipping up until a $125 order total. You can find the camera alone on Amazon with a $44.98 price tag, which does provide you free shipping, regardless of whether you are a Prime member or not.
