Pencil by FiftyThree: Graphite $50 shipped (Reg. $60), Walnut $60 shipped (Reg. $75)

Amazon offers the Pencil by FiftyThree Bluetooth enabled digital stylus, in graphite for $49.95 shipped (Reg. $60) or walnut for $59.95 shipped (Reg. $75). Be sure to clip the $10 or $15 coupon directly under the price on the listing page to lower the price at checkout. This is the first notable price drop we have seen for the Pencil by FiftyThree and is a savings of up to 20% off the list price. This popular Bluetooth stylus is the #1 seller amongst graphic tablet pens at Amazon, and is rated 4/5 stars by over 150 customers.

9to5Mac detailed the Pencil last year, highlighting the thought process that went into its design:

The stylus is designed to look and feel like a traditional carpenter’s pencil, with flat-sided design intended to be comfortable to hold and assist with accurate lines. The exterior is real wood (walnut from sustainable forests), and there are no buttons.

Currently, the Pencil is only compatible with Paper by FiftyThree for iPad, Noteshelf and Procreate, however it was recently announced that more apps will soon be enabled to utilize the stylus.

  1. Bought one of these during the preorder phase. Was disappointed that it doesn’t work on iPads with screen protectors, especially glass ones. It’s calibrated so precisely that a screen protector will make it lose contact or give incorrect pressure sensitivity.
