Update 2: The new 13-inch configurations are also now on sale:
- 13-inch M3 MacBook Air 16GB/256GB $1,049 (Orig. $1,299, Reg. $1,099)
- 13-inch M3 MacBook Air 24GB/512GB $1,449 (Orig. $1,699, Reg. $1,499)
Update: Amazon is also now offering the first deal on the newly priced 15-inch M3 MacBook Air with the 256GB SSD at 16GB of RAM down at $1,249.99 shipped – this is $49 off the new price and $249 under the price it sold for at Apple a couple weeks ago.
We all wanted it, and Apple finally did it. All current-generation (and some previous model) Macs now start with 16GB of RAM on the base configuration and today we are tracking the first deal. Amazon is now offering the 16GB 15-inch M3 MacBook Air with the elevated 512GB SSD down at $1,399 shipped. This particular configuration originally carried a $1,699 list price before Apple issued the official price drop, or rather bumped the base models to 16GB without changing the price. So with this deal you’re saving $300 off the price this machine was last week, and $100 off the new $1,499 MSRP from Apple.
We did see loads of $200 price drops on the old 8GB base models leading up to the October M4 Mac releases, even some $250 price drops, but today’s offer brings this 16GB configuration back down to the lowest price we have tracked to date.
For comparison’s sake, you can see this 16GB/512GB model with the new official $200 price drop at Best Buy where it is currently fetching $1,499.
As we have recently detailed over a 9to5Mac, and as exciting as the new M4 MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini are, one of the most important announcement from this week’s Mac reveals is the bump to 16GB on the MacBook Air models. It is the most popular Mac out there, likely due to it being far less pricey than the pro models and it coming packed with more than enough horsepower for most users. But the 8GB of RAM on the most affordable models was becoming increasingly underwhelming and underpowered, especially with Apple Intelligence on the horizon, even for casual users. With the jump to 16GB without a jump in price, the Air has become even more value-packed and today you can score one with an equally as future-proofed upgraded SSD at one of the lowest prices to date.
As of right now, official price drops aside, the only model we are seeing that is now undercutting the new price structure on the M3 MacBook Airs is the model detailed above. But for folks just looking to save as much as possible that don’t care about the RAM boost, the 8GB M2 MacBook Air is still around on Amazon right now and you can score with a seriously deep price drop right now:
Apple’s M2 MacBook Air just hit its best Amazon price ever in new condition at $700 (Orig. $1,099)
