All-new Bose SoundLink Plus Portable Bluetooth Speaker with powder-coated steel grille now up for pre-order

Just after unveiling its all-new flagship Gen 2 Ultra earbuds, Bose is also looking to amp up the summer further with its new SoundLink Plus Portable Bluetooth Speaker. Taking after the latest Max model in terms of design, the new Plus variants lands as a mid-size model with a more portable form-factor and a lower price point in three colorways. Scope out the details below.

For my money, the Bose speakers, much like its headphones, have always delivered a top-tier sound and listening experience. While I tend to lean more towards the brushed steel-wrapped home model I reviewed last year, the SoundLink lineup makes for a more rugged on-the-go option that can come along on your adventures just about anywhere.

The new SoundLink Plus is described as featuring a “a rugged, ready-for-anything design” that’s large enough “to bring the bass but portable enough to take on the go.” At first glance of the launch imagery and spec sheet, that’s exactly what it looks like to me too.

Bose says it features a new acoustic architecture with one subwoofer, a tweeter, and four passive radiators to deliver “best-in-class sound and booming bass in an all-new, portable enclosure.” It weighs less than 4 pounds with a 9.1′′wide x 3.9′′high x 3.4′′ deep form-factor that is, according to Bose, capable of “surviving fumbles, tumbles, and falls.”

The powder-coated steel grille with soft-touch silicon apparently allows the Plus to take a beating while still delivering on the more premium design we have come to love from the brand – there’s also a water-and dustproof design with an IP67 rating in place here alongside a nylon rope attachment and a frame that allows it to float in the water if needs be.

Battery life tops out at up to 20 hours here and the internal battery can also double as a power bank of sorts by way of the USB-C port.

And here are the details on the companion app features:

Bose app is the gateway to controlling and customizing the newSoundLink Plus and Micro speakers. When using the app, firmware updates are automatically downloaded and installed, ensuring the speakers are kept up to date. Additional features can also be accessed, including EQ adjustment, programming the shortcut button to another function, like Spotify Tap, and connecting the speaker to compatible Bose soundbars and smart speakers using Bose Simple Sync technology

The new Bose SoundLink Plus is now available for pre-order in black and Blue Dusk on Amazon, or the limited run Citrus yellow at $269 shipped via the Bose site. It is set for release on June 26.
