Update: Just after seeing the official Walmart Prime Day competitor sale undercut Amazon’s early price on the AirPods Pro 2 at $100 off and the AirPods 4, Walmart is now offering AirPods Max at a new all-time low at $399 shipped, or $150 off the $549 list price – this deal is for Walmart+ only until midnight tonight and we are expecting Amazon to price match at anytime.
Early Prime Day deals are flying now and, just after seeing the AirPods 4 start down at $99 and the AirPods Pro 2 drop to $169 over the weekend, Amazon has slashed $99 off the list price on the latest USB-C AirPods Max. Regularly $549, you’ll now find all of the newest colorways down at $449.99 $399 shipped. Additional details below.
Today’s $99 price drop marks the first time we have seen the AirPods Max (USB-C) down this low since a quick drop to $450 way back in January. All of the deals we have tracked this year at Amazon have had them down at around $480 otherwise. Just for the record, the older Lightning sets are currently either sold out or at even higher prices right now.
Just take note, Best Buy’s Black Friday in July sale is offering AirPods Max down at the same price right now while also throwing in a $50 bonus credit for paid My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total members:

Clearly the main pain point for Apple’s flagship over-ear listening experience is the price, and understandably so. They are, after all, quite a premium and pricey pair of wireless ANC headphones, but with the early Prime Day offer landing today you’re are at least getting a chance to knock nearly $100 off the asking price.
The new Sony XM6 headphones arrived earlier this year to give Apple’s AirPods Max some serious competition. And as fantastic as Sony’s latest are, one of my main takeaways after getting a chance to test them out for a few weeks was that they just don’t feature quite as high-end and luxurious a build as the AirPods Max. With today’s deal, the AirPods Max are now at the same price too.
