The official Sony back to school headphone sale rolls on with notable deals on both its more affordable current-generation earbuds and headphones as well as some of the higher-end models. While we are still awaiting a notable discount on the regularly $450 new XM6 over-ears – they are currently starting at $428 on Amazon – the still quite compelling and far more affordable XM5 set is seeing some big-time price drops right now. Just make sure to head below for the lowest possible price. 

You will find the WH-1000XM5 Premium Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones at $70 off directly on the Sony site right now, but Amazon is crushing that price today. 

Regularly $400, Amazon is now offering the Sony XM5 Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones down at $273.99 shipped. That’s over 30% off, or $126 under the list price to deliver one of the best deals of the year. They did fall even lower to $248 for a brief time during Prime Day, but today’s deal is otherwise among the best deals of the year. 

There’s no denying how fantastic the new XM6 headphones are, but you’re really going to pay for it. For some folks the $450 price of entry is a worthwhile investment, but there’s no denying the value in landing what are still a wonderful set of over-ears in the XM5 set for $176 less than that at Amazon today. 

I love my XM6s, but today’s deal on the XM5 should be, at least, on the radar for folks who don’t need the latest and greatest.
