New Lenovo Legion Go gaming handheld concept has a foldable display, check out the new trailer

Lenovo is known for showcasing bold concepts at MWC each year, and this time it’s turning heads with a foldable gaming handheld. It’s one of the first truly compelling use cases we’re seeing for the foldable tech beyond smartphones. Called the Legion Go Fold, this concept device features a display that folds in half to offer a compact 7.7-inch screen that sits between two controller halves when closed, and it expands into a larger 11.6-inch display when unfolded. You can use it in both vertical and horizontal orientations, which makes it a versatile unit. It’s easily one of the most exciting devices to come out of MWC this year, and you can learn more about it in detail below.

The standout feature of this concept, as mentioned earlier, is its folding display, which expands from a 7.7-inch panel to an 11.6-inch screen. The ability to use it in a vertical orientation also opens up a better experience for games designed around taller screen space. Like the Nintendo Switch 2, the controllers here are detachable, allowing you to remove them and pair the display with a magnetic keyboard, trackpad, or kickstand setup – essentially transforming it into a compact tabletop laptop.

Another interesting addition here is a little screen in the controller to show your CPU temps and other data. We don’t quite know if it’s fully customizable yet, although it’d be interesting to see how it would work in the real world. We went hands-on with this concept device at Lenovo’s MWC showfloor, and you can learn more about our experience of trying it out right here.

More than just the folding display, what really makes the Legion Go Fold interesting is its ability to transform into a laptop-like setup. Many handhelds already run Windows and double up as mini PCs, but the addition of a dedicated keyboard attachment makes it that much better. As with most concept devices, there’s no way to tell whether it will ever make it to market. But it feels like a genuinely compelling idea in its current state, and one we’d love to see become a real product in some capacity.
