LEGO unveils 13 new SMART Play Pokémon sets that you can pre-order ahead of their release

We’re still less than two days into LEGO’s release of the newest 118 sets and The LEGO Group isn’t waiting to unveil what may just be one of the biggest news of the month (and summer) for builders. The partnership between The LEGO Group and The Pokémon Company already gave us three sets that stirred up tons of excitement, but now, the veil is lifting off a collection of 13 new SMART Play Pokémon sets – and you can secure yours now with pre-order purchases ahead of the upcoming release date. Head below to get a rundown on what you can expect, as well as check out all the collected photos.

If you’ve got the need to catch them all, today’s LEGO Pokémon unveiling will certainly put you that much closer to doing so in brick-built form (though we have a LONG way to go). Builders of all ages and levels of nostalgia will definitely be buzzing and champing at the bit to get a hold of these sets, with two of them containing actual SMART Play bricks, while the others are SMART Play-compatible, which is a little disappointing, as the three sets among them I was ecstatic to see are among the latter of these. They’re following right behind the similar Star Wars sets that released earlier in the year, containing specially patented tech that allows them to respond to how builders play through light, sound, and motion.

The two sets that are going to be central to enjoying this smarter play system are the 72164 SMART Play: Training House with Pikachu set and the 72167 SMART Play: Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle set.

Sadly, my absolute favorite Pokemon, Gengar, is included in one of the compatible-only sets, as are Mew and Mewtwo, not to mention the other six sets. The good news, though, is that all these sets are slated to release on August 1, 2026, but rather than wait for the gates to open in two months, you can pre-order any of them right here today. With the excitement these will bring, who knows if there will even be any stock left to put on shelves in August. The full list of sets are right here:
