Amazon is giving pretty much its entire Kindle lineup a proper redesign for 2026, with fresh versions of the standard Kindle, Paperwhite, and Colorsoft all making their debut ahead of the upcoming fall Prime Day sale. The big change across the board is a new flush-front display design that gets rid of the raised bezel around the screen, while the devices themselves are also thinner and lighter than before. Amazon is throwing in a few more meaningful upgrades depending on the model too, including faster performance on the standard Kindle, a higher-contrast Paperwhite display, improved colors on the Colorsoft model, and so on. There’s even an aluminum-backed version for the first time ever, alongside a new Bluetooth page-turn remote joining the accessory lineup. The prices start at $149.99 shipped, and you can head below for a closer look at what’s new.
Here’s a quick look at the all-new Kindle lineup
- Standard Kindle 16GB – $149.99
- Kindle Aluminum 32GB – $189.99
- Kindle Paperwhite 16GB – $199.99
- Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition 32GB – $249.99
- Kindle Colorsoft 16GB – $289.99
- Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition 32GB – $319.99
- Kindle Click Bluetooth page-turn remote – $34.99
The standard Kindle gets one of the bigger upgrades
The regular 6-inch Kindle is still the most affordable model in the series, but Amazon has made a few worthwhile changes this time around. It now has the same new flush-front display as the rest of the lineup and is said to be the most pocket-sized Kindle yet. The storage here stays at 16GB but the book opening is also said to be 30% faster than the previous generation, and battery life is rated for up to six weeks.
It starts at $149.99 shipped in Ube and Graphite, but there’s also a new aluminum-backed version with 32GB of storage in Alpine Sky and Seaglass Green for $189.99 shipped. That’s the first time Amazon has offered the standard Kindle with an aluminum rear housing.

The new Kindle Paperwhite sticks with the familiar formula but gets a slimmer and lighter body along with what Amazon says is its highest-contrast Paperwhite display yet. It still has the adjustable warm light and waterproof build, while battery life stretches up to 12 weeks on a charge. The regular Paperwhite starts at $199.99 shipped with 16GB of storage. The $249.99 Signature Edition bumps that to 32GB and adds the aluminum rear housing, auto-adjusting front light, pogo-pin dock charging, and a new double-tap gesture for turning pages.
Amazon is also refreshing the Kindle Colorsoft, with the biggest upgrade landing on the display itself. The company is said to have reworked the panel with a new light guide, nitride LEDs, custom waveforms, and an updated optical coating to improve brightness, contrast, and color while keeping the more paper-like look that separates it from a regular tablet. The standard model for this one starts at $289.99 shipped with 16GB of storage, while the $319.99 Signature Edition moves to 32GB and adds the same aluminum housing, auto-adjusting front light, double-tap page turning, and dock charging as the upgraded Paperwhite.

Amazon finally made a Kindle page-turn remote
One of the more interesting additions this year isn’t actually a Kindle at all, in my opinion. Amazon has finally made an official Bluetooth page-turn remote called Kindle Click for $34.99 shipped. It works with the new lineup as well as Kindle models from 2024 onward, letting you flip pages without touching the screen. There’s also a new $80 Page-Turn Cover with physical buttons for the Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition, along with a $60 Charging Dock and new covers starting at $40.
The new standard Kindle and aluminum variant are available starting today, while the latest Paperwhite and Colorsoft models are now up for pre-order. The Kindle Click is also up for pre-orders starting today, while the rest of the accessories listings are yet to go live.
