Review: Samsung’s KS9500 65-Inch curved 4K TV is pretty amazing [Video]

This has got to be one of Samsung’s most beautiful creations in the TV space. Meet the 9500 series 65-inch Curved SHUD TV and it’s basically a work of art. Though not the cheapest option, it’s a great looking TV, but you can also find some pretty sweet deals on other curved Samsung TVs here

Inside of the box, you’ll find the massive 65-inch Curved TV, along with the stand that attaches to the backside. There’s also the Once Connect box which is pretty awesome for reducing cable clutter. This single box plugs into the back of the TV and becomes the main hub for all of your TV connections. This way, you can hide the box behind the TV or entertainment center for a truly clean-cut cable managed situation.

Samsung sets the bar really high in terms of picture quality and design here. With the design, Samsung has been doing this for a decade now and there are no corners cut. Every angle of this TV is absolutely beautiful. From its sleek metal base, to the curved quantum dot display, this 65-inch SUHD TV is absolutely stunning. This is without a doubt the best Samsung TV ever.

As for the picture, like I said this is a quantum dot display that features over 1 billion colors, has a wider color gamut of DCI 96% for nearly identical color from the original source, and combined with a 10-bit color panel, you’ll get the most life-like and vivid colors.

It’s also packing the Hollywood movie standard HDR 1000. The brightness here peaks out at 1000 nits, which is much higher than OLED panels topping out at 540 nits. Because of this, the contrast ratio is high enough that the brightest and darkest parts of an image are viewable with as the most possible detail.

Now let’s talk about that curve. It’s obviously one of the standout features here and it’s very hard to ignore. First thing to mention here is that because there’s a nice curve here, there’s no image distortion as the distance between each part of the screen and your eyes is equal. It’s basically all about comfort (even though it looks pretty sweet as well). Along with that, this curve provides a very immersive viewing experience. Think about the real world, is it flat? That’s the point here. By curving the picture towards you, you’ll easily become more immersed in what you’re watching. It simply fills your field of vision more than flat TVs and feels somewhat 3D because the image exists on multiple depth planes.

As for software, Samsung’s implementation is pretty sweet. You’ll find services such as YouTube, Netflix, Amazon video, Hulu, and others. In addition to that, Samsung offers access to a variety of apps and games to spice things up a bit. The software here is pretty smooth and simplistic though and it’s all easy to navigate with the remote control as well. With that remote, it’s a pretty clean design. There’s even a voice search button which will easily allow you to find various content throughout the apps on the TV, which is pretty cool.

There’s a lot of great things to say about this TV though. It’s a beautiful giant, with crispy colors, excellent picture quality, and I love the curves on this thing. There’s nothing else like it, especially at this size. It’s one of the best I’ve seen and probably the best designed out there, but it’s not cheap. This bad boy will set you back around $3,350. Though for what you get, it may be worth it to some. If you’re not into dumping az ton of money into some curved awesomeness, there are a few deals floating around for them right now as well.
