LEGO has announced a new partnership with Ford that will bring some of the auto manufacturer’s most iconic vehicles to miniature scale. In celebration of the Ford GT40’s 1966 win, there will be recreations made available of the original vehicle and its modern day equivalent. Specially designed minifigs will also be making an appearance as part of this upcoming release. These characters have full racing suits and even have a trophy to celebrate with.
The original GT40 has classic 1960’s styling with Ford’s iconic race stripes and wheels. LEGO’s version of the current day model looks like a supercar. Comparing the two side-by-side really showcases the differences in technology between the two. The 2016 Ford GT and 1966 GT40 will each be available exclusively through LEGO on March 1st. In the meantime, be sure to check out LEGO’s existing race car sets including the Mustang GT.
It’s a gift 50 years in the making that could set your child on the path to becoming a racing legend. The iconic Ford GT40 and new Ford GT that won Le Mans 24 Hours in 1966 and 2016 are being brought to life in LEGO® bricks. The new LEGO Speed Champions set will include both cars as well as racing driver minifigures, a chequered flag and even a trophy to make it easy to recreate those history-making victories.
