A new Kickstarter project has an idea for utilizing these previous generation devices, too. Pixlplay is an add-on that works with recent iPhones (non-Plus) and popular Android devices like Samsung S7, S6, S5, and Google Pixel.
The snap-on case turns your device into a child-friendly camera with a working shutter button, protective design and a manual focus lens. An attached 3.5mm headphone jack operates the manual controls and a pressurized grip keeps your device in place. Best of all, it offers drop protection from spills that would otherwise harm an iPhone or Android device. PixlPlay is available for backing on Kickstarter today for $20 with an estimated delivery date of June if all goes to plan.

Some Android phones require setting up the camera shutter to be controlled by the volume button. Also works with Windows mobile devices.
