Slick new console revives original SNES so you can replay Super Mario World and more

Coming soon

Entering into 2018, retro gaming is as big as ever. Look no further than Nintendo’s very own NES and SNES Classic to see just how large the demand to play games from the past is. If nostolgia-fueled gaming is right up your alley, then Rose Colored Gaming’s latest retro-console remake may be perfect for you. Its new “SNES Re-imagined” brings the 90’s 16-bit console into the modern ages with a sleek, stylish exterior and Mario in tow.

For many, Nintendo’s SNES console was a childhood stable and even a first introduction to video games overall in some cases. And with a packed roster of games like Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country and more, it’s easy to see why owners of the console would want to get their hands on this machine.

Rose Colored Gaming has capitalized on this nostalgic desire for some time, but now is taking things to the next level with the release of its new Re-imagined SNES.

RCG’s new remake of the SNES is assembled by hand and framed by a laser cut and etched acrylic casing that is specially designed to snuggly fit the internal hardware. This results in an extremely slick, one of a kind form-factor and thanks to a transparent housing, lets you show off the Re-imagined SNES’ internal components.

But turning our attention inside the well-designed casing, RCG takes an interesting approach to its new console. While last year’s hit SNES Classic ditches its older relative’s hardware and is essentially an emulator, the Re-imagined SNES gives new life to the 90s console’s components. That’s right, RCG’s console salvages the original console’s hardware. Of course the creators aren’t just shucking every SNES they can get their hands on, and are only using consoles which aren’t irreparably damaged.

As of now there’s no details on when Rose Colored Gaming’s latest retro release will be available for purchase, or what the sleek new machine will cost you. Given the huge success of Nintendo’s first hand efforts to bring back its vintage consoles, I can only guess that the Re-imagined SNES will charge a high asking price for its one of a kind machines.

These SNES consoles* have been treated to a 100% brand new, hand-built exterior, all while retaining complete original function.  Each is assembled by hand with the care and attention to detail that you have come to expect from RCG.  The housing consists of laser cut and etched acrylic components which have been drilled, bent, bonded, threaded, & assembled using all new anodized aluminum hardware.  Many internal components have been slathered in various finishes then etched in order to accentuate items which were never meant to be seen.  All hand-built, these units will only be available in VERY limited quantities upon release, with each being treated to a unique serial number.
