Samsung has announced a new addition to its line of monitors with the new 27-inch SD590C curved LED. Long recognized for its television manufacturing know-how and high quality displays, Samsung is making a push to create an immersive viewing experience for gamers and editors alike.
This new monitor is designed to be used in a multi-display setup and for gaming, with a specialized mode that optimizes the display with a single click. While we have already seen ultra-wide monitors, the Samsung SD590C takes a whole new approach to displays.
Additionally, Samsung is touting the SD590C as providing users with an “unparalleled viewing experience like no other monitor” because of its curved design. There is even some math behind it, with a wider field of view than traditional flat 27-inch monitors, the display appears to be bigger. Samsung claims that peripheral visual clutter is reduced because the “display’s edges are closer to the user’s eyes and match their natural curve”.
The SD590C features a 5-watt 2-channel dual stereo speaker system, which is built directly into the curve of the monitor, as well as HDMI, Display Port and D-sub inputs. Because of the curved design of the monitor, Samsung claims that audio will “envelop users” as they watch content. The narrow bezel allows for users to easily pair two monitors together, which can create a larger more subtle curve.
The SD590C will be available for purchase on October 1st at a price of $429.99. If you’re looking for extra screen real estate but are working on a tight budget then you may want to consider the incredibly popular ASUS VS278Q-P that’s currently available for $259.99 (or less).
