Amazon announced that it will be including free same day delivery for Prime subscribers in select markets on qualifying orders of $35 or more. This news comes on the heels of Walmart announcing its own expedited shipping service at a lower cost. Same day delivery is not a new feature for Prime, although it previously required additional $5.99 fee for all orders.
Today’s news brings this service to two additional markets, upping the total to 14 metro areas, which covers roughly 60% of the nation’s population. Amazon continues to make a big push to bridge the gap between the options of online ordering and the convenience of local stores. Initially, one million items will be available with more being added over time.
