Superscreen supercharges your smartphone with a wireless 10.1-inch HD display

Device fragmentation is as big of an issue as it’s ever been. Smartphones are great for staying connected on the go, but sometimes the screen sizes just doesn’t cut it for watching movies or consuming other content. Enter Transcendent Designs’ Superscreen, an accessory to supercharge your phone with a 10.1-inch HD display.

At first glance, Superscreen resembles a full-blown tablet rather than a smartphone accessory. Centering around the device’s 10.1-inch multi-touch HD screen, it sports many of the features you’d expect to find in a standalone device. Not only does it have a USB-C port for charging, but a headphone jack and volume rocker as well. Superscreen also comes equipped with Bluetooth 4.1 for connecting to your smartphone and stereo speakers for content playback. The inclusion of integrated cameras also adds to the tablet like design of Superscreen, which features both 2MP and 5MP cameras. The display offers two color variant, so you get your choice between Midnight Black and Ivory White styles.

Superscreen packs some pretty interesting technology for a device as thin and lightweight as it is. While the 2,560×1,600 screen resolution may not be as crisp as the latest and greatest smartphone, it supports dynamic screen scaling so that regardless of which device you’re connecting, the content you’re enjoying will never be blurry or incorrectly cropped. Supersceen’s screen is also equipped with full multi-touch support, which even extends to including stylus.

Functionality-wise, Superscreen utilizes a patent-pending technology in order to accomplish the screen and data transfer between it and your phone. The connection is claimed to support up to a 100 foot range, regardless of any obstructions like walls or furniture. This ultimately means that while your phone charges in the other room, you could still be watching Netflix on the couch. Superscreen works with both iOS and Android smartphones. The display pairs to a companion smartphone app, which allows you to sync your device to Superscreen much like you would any other wireless peripheral device.

Transcendent Designs set out to raise $50,000 initially. With 20 days still left in the campaign, Superscreen has managed to amass 10,000 backers and $1,269,554 in funding. As of now, Supercell can be preordered for $99 at the early bird special price, which is 67% off the expected retail price. If all goes as planed, Superscreen plans to ship towards the end of the year in December.

Superscreen is a new way to experience the digital world you have set-up on your phone. It does everything a tablet can do, everything a casting product can do, PLUS everything in your phone in one affordable great looking device.
