This morning, AOC has announced that its new 40-inch Curved 4K Ultra HD display is now available in the United States for purchase. Priced at $899.99, this monitor promises an immersive high resolution experience wrapped in one of the largest desktop workspaces that we’ve seen. Given the troubles of LG’s latest 5K release, this attractive monitor may fit the bill for Apple users looking for a solution…
AOC is decidedly going after the high-end market with its latest release. At 40-inches and $900, this is likely to be overkill and out of budget for many. The main draw here for creatives is the massive real estate that is provided by a 3840 x 2160 resolution which can reproduce over 1.07 billion colors.
Perhaps most important is that AOC’s latest release pumps out full 4K at 60Hz, eliminating any issues that may come from lower refresh rates. Curved monitors have been a hot-topic over the last few years as some swear by its improved immersive experience and others find it to simply be a ploy without any merit. At 40-inches, we’d venture to guess that the benefits of a curved display are going be more pronounced in comparison to smaller monitors.
AOC’s latest includes dual HDMI inputs (1.4 and 2.0), two DisplayPort 1.2 and a four port USB 3.0 hub. You’d hope at this price to see a plethora of I/O and AOC thankfully delivers. The USB hub sports one fast charging port, so you can power up connected devices while transferring data, if needed. It also offers support for picture-in-picture (PIP), which allows users to view two separate sources at the same time.
As you may have heard, Apple is rumored to be returning to the competitive display market following the discontinuation of its popular Thunderbolt accessory last year. LG experienced loads of trouble with its Apple-endorsed 5K monitor, as well, with difficulty ranging from availability to simply not working when placed too close to a wireless router. This has left a gaping hole in the accessory market, making room for AOC to swoop in and save the day.
You may remember that just last month Philips unveiled its own 40-inch curved 4K monitor. But with a $999.99 price tag, it is even more expensive than today’s new release from AOC. Both sport an attractive, Apple-friendly design that is sure to be a hit with consumers if they can stomach the price tag.
The new AOC C400VU8 40-inch 4K Monitor is available for purchase today from Amazon.

Fremont, Calif. – April 18, 2017 – AOC, a worldwide leader in monitor display technology, today announces the U.S. availability of the new C4008VU8 40” curved 4K UHD display with 10-bit color. The monitor features an 85% NTSC wide color gamut and flicker-free technology for reduced eye strain. The ultra-high definition display allows users to see more on the screen at one time, giving them more ‘real estate’ and allowing them to see more detail for sharper and more brilliant images. This makes the C4008VU8 a perfect monitor for creative projects or productivity. The C4008VU8 is available at Amazon and B&H Photo Video for $899.99 MSRP.
The curved VA panels has a 3840×2160 resolution that boasts 1.07 billion colors, meaning the panel can present more depth and richer color to produce more vibrant images. VA is perfect for graphic designing, video editing or photo retouching. Users can view spreadsheets or watch movies from virtually any angle without compromising color uniformity. The C4008VU8 features a 60Hz refresh rate, wide-viewing angles and 5ms response time.
Eye comfort is one of the most important considerations when working on creative tasks. Normal LED monitors adjust brightness using pulse width modulation, which creates flickers that can cause discomfort over long periods of time. However, because the C4008VU8 features flicker-free technology, the backlight system is more comfortable and allows for healthier viewing.
The monitor also features PiP (Picture in Picture), allowing users to watch a live video feed while working on their PC. One of the really outstanding features of this monitor is its ability to display four separate input sources simultaneously without image distortion, in Full HD, with its PbP (Picture by Picture) functionality. The monitor can present four separate video windows, saving valuable desktop space and dramatically increasing productivity.
Finally, the C4008VU8 provides an immersive visual experience with its curved screen. Curved monitors deliver the best viewable angles that allow users to see more and reduce eyestrain. With its thin bezels, the C4008VU8 works perfectly in multi-monitor workstations.
