Early version of Super Mario Bros. for NES sells for over $30,000 on eBay

A sealed copy of the orignal Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Entertainment System has sold on eBay for over $30,000. As you may have been able to tell from the exorbitant price, this is isn’t just your typical cartridge…

First of all, it is in absolutely mint-condition and completely sealed in its original shrink-wrap. It also happens to be a very early-run copy as the the box has the old hangtab design. Reports suggest there are only about 12 or so known examples like this on the planet and that this one is likely in the best condition of them all. Now it’s starting to make sense.

The seller, a retro game dealer based out of Pennsylvania, apparently received the orignal cart as part of collection years ago. It also recently sold another bundle of classics including a sealed copy of Kid Icarus to the same buyer for $11,000.

Here is an image of the sealed SMB:

This game is 100% guaranteed to be new and factory sealed.
Silicone wrapping is 100% in tact with no rips or tears. All corners of the box are without damage. Cardboard hanging tabs are untouched and still in tact.

This game will be shipped and handled with care. We understand the value of factory sealed games and will make every measure to ensure its safe journey to you.
