It may not seem like it, but we’re almost to that festive time of year again. And in anticipation of the holidays, LEGO has released three new versions of its yearly Advent Calendar. Comprised of 24 days worth of winter-themed builds, you’ll be able to create miniature models and minifigures from LEGO’s Star Wars, City and Friends series.
LEGO has been releasing yearly versions of its holiday Advent Calendars for some time now, with the Star Wars-themed kit always being a fan favorite. This year, the company has opted to unveil three different sets to attract a larger range of LEGO fans. While you’ll still find the Star Wars kit, it has now been accompanied by a City and Friends-themed selection of miniature builds.
Each of the three Advent Calendars is comprised of 24 unique mini-kits tailored to the series they come from. So rather than one big festive Star Wars ship or holiday-themed Friends creation, you’ll have the chance to piece together almost a month’s worth of builds. Ranging from minifigures and accessories to micro-scale vehicles and more, each set offers quite a bit of variety.
Clocking in at 309 pieces, the Star Wars Advent Calendar goes for $40 and is packed with 7 minifigures, several iconic starships and other models from a galaxy far far away. The set also includes a foldout play mat of various Star Wars-centric locations like Jakku, star killer base and more. In particular the BB-8 with Santa hat and snowboard really caught my eye, but maybe I’m a little biased after building LEGO’s 1,100 piece version.
If LEGO’s City line of sets is more your thing, its $30 248-piece calendar includes 6 minifigures, miniature vehicles and more. Within the set you’ll also find plenty of festively-themed builds like a Christmas tree, ice sculpture and snowman. If you’ve already got an expansive collection of City kits, this will be a great way to add some holiday cheer to the mix.
With the more relevantly released Friends LEGO series, its $30 Advent Calendar only includes a single exclusive minifigure, but makes up for it with a variety of animals and other wintery structures. Comprised of 217 pieces, you’ll find a snowmobile, horse-drawn carriage and more to get in the holiday spirit.
While it may seem too far away to order an Advent Calendar for the holidays, these LEGO kits always seem to be extremely popular and sell out well before the winter festivities begin. Whether you’re looking for a way to count down to the holidays with your family or just want to add some festive-themed bricks to your collection, all three calendars are a great buy for the holiday season.
