Maunzi is a fun new robot that kids can build from the ground up then control using LEGOs and a smartphone. The interactive toy can teach kids about robotics, how to develop code and even use Augmented Reality. Currently being funded on Kickstarter, Maunzi is still working to meet its fundraising goal with 14 days left in its campaign.

Maunzi is aimed at children ages six and above and it lets builders control the movement using just a smartphone. Plus, there are some pretty interesting movements you can make using the 3D assembly manual. You can even use LEGO building blocks with Maunzi. The kit is compatible with all of the standard bricks and allows you to build even more fun creations. The Maunzi module is designed to a specific size so its easier for kids to grab it. Also, the corners have been rounded so there are no sharp edges to harm your kids.

To start using Maunzi, just press the start button on the window cube. Then it will search for a Bluetooth connected smartphone or tablet to take control. You’ll have to make sure you have the Maunzi app first, but after that, it’s time to take control. When you are playing with Maunzi, you have the ability to control the movements you choose using a smartphone. You can make some very interesting movements that can be created using various sensors.

Included with most of the kits is the automatic cannon modules (shown in the video above). Your kids can enjoy fun cannon games with their friends by controlling the shot with an app-enabled smartphone. The Maunzi Robot Kit can currently make a total of 3 character products, but with additional LEGOs you can build just about anything else.

With only 14 days left to go in its campaign, Maunzi still has a long way to go to meet its fundraising goal of $30,000. If you would like your own Maunzi, a pledge of $92 or more will get you your own starter kit off the super early bird special. It includes a Window Cube, Motor Cube, Bridge, Wheel, Wheel bar, Tire, Charger Cube, USB Cable, Adapter, Nick Character Pack and more to start you off right. If all goes as planned backers will receive their Maunzi starting in February of next year.
