Following varying degrees of success throughout the tail-end of the 20th century, Airstream has come back with a vengeance over the last few years. With booming recreational vehicle sales recently there is a renewed interest in this product category. All of this has resulted in the new Airstream Globetrotter, a tricked out trailer that’s loaded with tech and a $100,000 price tag.
That last price is sure to turn some away, but there’s no denying the visual beauty of this aluminum masterpiece. With large vista windows and a clean design, it’s easy to appreciate the attention to detail here by Airstream.
Airstream is offering two different varieties of its new Globetrotter unit with a queen bed layout or an alternative that features two twin beds. The 27-foot long interior is crammed full of amenities, with just about every inch of space utilized in some capacity. Up front is a dining area that doubles as a lounge or 63-inch bed if needed.
Perhaps my favorite feature of this area is the large windows that let in copious amounts of light, in theory making the space feel larger. Of course in the press materials the Globetrotter is parked outside a gorgeous Maine lighthouse at sunset, your own personal experience may vary.
For $100,000, you’d hope that Airstream delivers on the amenities and for the most part, we’d say they did. An integrated multi-room Polk audio system with multiple Samsung HDTVs highlights the list of features throughout the space. Globetrotters will also find a number of USB ports at every turn along with pre-wired support for solar kits.
The middle of the trailer sports a galley style kitchen with a three-burner stove, refrigerator, prep area and boat-style round windows. A shower and lavatory can also be found in this space as well. A queen or set of twin beds resides in the back along with built-in storage for clothes and other necessities.
I personally appreciate the attention to detail that Airstream brings to its latest release. Packing all of the necessary equipment, tech and basic needs of a traveler into a tube can’t be easy. Gone are the days of cheap materials and throwaway designs, what Airstream is now offering is luxury all the way.
The new Airstream Globetrotter is available for purchase today from dealers with prices starting at $100,000. Custom designs are available if you’re looking to pimp out your mobile palace even further.
