Wacom continues to standout as an industry leader in creating hardware for artists and engineers. And after their previous release focusing on professional creators, today the company has announced updated versions of its Intuos Drawing tablets aimed at both creative beginners and enthusiasts alike.

Following last week’s announcement of a high-end PC module for its Cintiq tablets, Wacom has now introduced a significantly upgraded version of its popular Intuos pen tablet.

Based around the same active drawing area as the previous generation model, Wacom’s newest Intuos tablets sport a smaller footprint and lightweight design. Battery life is said to be getting some love with the latest iteration, which Wacom claims it has improved by 60%.

Each of the new Wacom tablets also come bundled with creative software to help new creators hone their skills. Among the software packages, Corel Painter Essentials 6 and Corel AfterShot 3 are two of the standouts. Wacom also includes tutorials with the software to offer extra assistance.

A new version of the Wacom pen is included alongside the tablets as well. Headlined by 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, the pen also boasts battery-free Wacom EMR technology and an improved ergonomic design for increased comfort during long sessions. An in-pen nib compartment and nib extractor round out the features.

Wacom’s latest drawing peripherals enter the market in two sizes with two small models and a single medium model. Starting at $79, the entry-level Intuos tablet includes all the aforementioned functionality and comes in 3 color choices. Bumping up to $99 nets you Bluetooth functionality as well. At the most expensive price point, the medium model also sports Bluetooth at $199.
