Amazon & Twitch announce Free Games with Prime monthly reward service

Since Amazon’s acquisition of Twitch, the online retail giant has been giving its Prime members unique benefits for the game streaming website. If you’re a Prime member, you get one free channel subscription (which normally costs a monthly fee), and now Amazon is offering Prime members free games every month through Twitch.

These, so far, aren’t any major AAA titles like DOOM, Call of Duty, or Battlefield, but they should all be fun games none-the-less. And who doesn’t enjoy something free, either? From a peek at the first two months, it looks like Amazon will be providing 5 free games to its Prime subscribers every month, but more on this new promotion below.

Twitch and Amazon are dubbing this promotion “Free Games with Prime.” This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a company give out subscription members free games. Both Sony and Microsoft do this if you’re a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscriber.

There are also services like Humble Bundle Monthly that give you PC games every month at one subscription price. In the blog post, Twitch says:

We’re digging into our archives to bring you the best of our previously released games, starting with a pair of critically acclaimed titles: Superhot and Oxenfree.

These aren’t the only games that will be available for March, however. Shadow Tactics, Tales from Candlekeep, and Mr. Shifty are also going to be released in the first batch of free games to Prime subscribers.

The selection of games will become available starting in a few days on March 15th. April will bring with it another batch of games, including Tales from the Borderlands, SteamWorld Dig 2, Kingsway, Tokyo 42, and Dubwars.

These games are yours to keep forever once claimed, so if any of these titles tickle your fancy, be sure to head on over to Twitch in a few days to claim them, and again in April once the deals are refreshed.

At this point, it’s unknown if AAA titles like Battlefield, Call of Duty, PUBG, or more will ever make it into this “Free Games with Prime” promotion, but one can only hope that as this area grows, so will the games included.
