Since AirPods’ release back at the end of 2016, we’ve seen a variety of accessories hit the market to bring more functionality to Apple’s extremely popular truly-wireless earphones. One of the more notable veteran accessory makers out there, Elago, has released everything from cases to charging docks and more for AirPods. But today the company has announced an all-new accessory meant to help you keep track of your earbuds, deemed the Wrist Fit.
The latest in Elago’s long line of accessories takes the form of an Apple Watch band alongside an additional component designed to house each of your AirPods. The Wrist Fit takes the place of the charging case in situations where your AirPods will only temporarily be out of your ears.
Rather than digging the case out of your pocket or setting your AirPods down momentarily, Elago’s new accessory offers a convenient place to store them in between listening sessions.
Included alongside the silicone wrist strap is the small attachment that actually houses the AirPods. And thanks to being removable, it should fit just about any other Apple Watch band you may have in your collection.
As you can expect, the Wrist Fit comes in both 38 and 42mm sizes. The attachment is also said to be compatible with both sizes of band, so if you have both styles of Apple Watch, you can easily switch between them.
In terms of practicality, I definitely think Elago’s new accessory will prove useful for many. At least anecdotally, the Wrist Fit would come in handy for me at least four or five times a week, where I’d take one of my AirPods out to talk with someone and place it in my shirt’s front pocket. But this might be an occurrence of the past, with the Wrist Fit offering a much better way to quickly store your AirPods without popping them back into the case.
I am curious as to how secure the Wrist Fit will be for actually be for keeping AirPods in place. Elago contends that Apple’s wireless earbuds fit snuggly in the silicone holder, but we’ll have to see how true this claim actually is.
