Kensington debuts new modular monitor stand packed with a built-in desk fan

Kensington has announced a new product aimed squarely at making your computing experience more comfortable. Its new CoolView Wellness Monitor Stand sports a built-in fan that can be replaced with its upcoming heater or air purifier releases. Swapping the fan out is made possible thanks to the stand’s modular design. This is a feature that is sure to help it stick out in an already-crowded market, stuffed with alternatives from beloved companies like Twelve South.

We all spend time in front of computers, and for many of us, our livelihood depends on it. Many companies make products to make our computing time more comfortable. Examples range from iSkelter lap desks to Gunnar computer glasses. These types of products typically receive great customer reviews since any amount of help makes a significant change when multiplying their utility over a 40-hour workweek.

In the stand’s marketing video, Kensington showcases users who appreciate the fan functionality after finishing a workout or biking to work. Users in the video show off the modular capabilities by handily removing the fan from the stand so its orientation can be changed. Fan angles can also be adjusted up and down using the built-in lever.

While the CoolView Wellness Monitor Stand ships with a fan, customers will be able to purchase either a heater or air purifier and swap out each, as needed. Neither of these products are available for purchase today, but in its PR release, Kensington stated that they are coming soon.

Kensington claims the stand is built to hold monitors and all-in-one PCs up to 27-inches in size, making this a perfect companion for Apple’s 27-inch iMac or the similarly sized Microsoft Surface Studio.

The fan connects via USB, making connectivity a cinch. Going fan-less or opting for quieter fans is something that Apple has done for many years with its MacBooks. If you have grown to appreciate this, you will be happy to hear that the dock’s built-in fan produces a minimal amount of noise, keeping distractions to a minimum.

Priced at $89.99, the Kensington CoolView Wellness Monitor Stand may have a hard time competing with other monitor risers. Options like the stylish VonHaus Deluxe Monitor Riser Stand cost half the price and offer built-in storage. Pairing this with desk fans at Amazon will still keep you under $90, likely making this specific stand a no-go for most buyers.

However, if a fan, heater, or air purifier matter a lot to you, then you will be hard pressed to find an all-in-one solution like this.
