Numskull, a company well-known for its gaming gear, announced earlier today that, thanks to a recent partnership with BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment, it will make a PAC-MAN themed design for its first quarter-sized arcade cabinet. The company has plans for an entire series of these small arcades and each will be fully playable. With their compact size, they will fit on nicely on desks and are likely to distract many from getting their work done on time.

PAC-MAN is one of those games that is immediately recognizable by most, whether they are a gamer or not. Very few video game characters garner this level of popularity, making the dot- and ghost-gobbling creature a great fit for Numskull’s first replica cabinet.

While products like Basic Fun’s Pac-Man Mini Arcade Game attempt to give you the retro experience that you desire, Numskull’s implementation is sure to beat out all of the competition with its replication of the real arcade. Detailed implementation of original artwork, coin slots, buttons, and the iconic joystick are sure to take you back to the 1980s.

Let’s talk about the dimensions of the arcade. As mentioned before, it is scaled down to 1/4 size of the original arcade cabinet. It measures 430mm x 160mm x 210mm deep (16.93-inches tall x 6.3-inches wide x 8.27-inches deep). Making this classic game fit nearly anywhere in your home or office that you would like.

If you are looking to get one of these arcade cabinets you will likely need to act quickly since there will be limited availability. Only 10,000 units will be made and the company makes it very clear on the pre-order page that ‘once they’re gone, they’re gone’, phrasing that is sure to contribute to a quicker sellout.

Each arcade cabinet comes with an exclusive PAC-MAN coin and Collectors Edition packaging. We are uncertain if the PAC-MAN coin is meant to be inserted into the coin slots on the front, if so, that would certainly be a neat throwback.

The cabinet will run the official PAC-MAN ROM, but it is not clear what type of hardware is used to do so. Considering that Nintendo’s NES and SNES Classic consoles have been hacked to add more games, it is not far-fetched to think that this product could be much more capable than what is sold to be.

While we do not have a specific day of release for The Numskull PAC-MAN Replica Cabinet, the Geekstore pre-order page states that they are due in December 2018. Pre-order pricing is currently set at £149.99.
