Peak Design’s iPhone car mounts were already fantastic, and they just got upgraded with 15W Qi2 charging

Peak Design is another one of those brands that cuts its teeth in the photography space, delivering some of the best and popular camera strap and anchoring systems. But it also happens to make some wonderful tech accessories too, including iPhone cases in combination with the folks at Nomad, one of the best articulating MagSafe Car Vent Mounts I have tested out, and much more. Starting today, much of its existing charging gear is getting a major upgrade in the form of the new Qi2 standard that delivers a powerful 15W of juice to iPhone users and this includes everything from its car mounts to its desktop MagSafe-ready charging stand, and more. Head below for more details on the new high-powered Peak Design Qi2 charging gear.

Peak Design upgrades to a peak 15W of iPhone charging power

For those unfamiliar, the Qi2 power certification allows enabled devices (iPhone 13 and newer) to charge up with 15W of juice, delivering a much faster battery refueling process that was previously only available through Apple-made chargers (or from brands that got the go ahead from Cupertino, so to speak). On top of that, Qi2 does all of this with much better heat management and has already begun its journey to becoming an industry-wide standard in many ways.

While, for the most part, all of the new Qi2 Peak gear is largely the same as its predecessor otherwise, there are some minor aesthetic alterations here as well as “ backwards compatibility with all other PD mounts/cases, and a standard wireless charging output of 5W to non-Qi2 enabled phones.”

In my experience, it’s hard to go wrong with just about all of the Peak Design charging gear, and everything just got a whole lot better including its Car Vent Mount – the real highlight of today’s announcement for me personally. This, after getting a chance to really test it out in person for a few weeks, is one of the better options on the market for me. It is incredibly robust with strong magnets and a unique mounting system – there are two points of connection for “considerably more strength and stability” and the “360-degree swivel arm lets you position your phone away from your vent for better airflow and easier viewing.”

Here’s what Peak Design has to say about this mount, and I completely concur:

You get what you pay for with car vent mounts, and the Peak Design Car Vent Mount is hands-down the strongest, sturdiest, most adjustable vent mount money can buy.
