We saw some notable deals on Apple AirPods Max for Prime Day, but prices have actually dropped a touch lower now. The original Lightning set is now starting from the $394.99 shipped all-time low – this is matching the best price we have tracked on just about all colors outside of the pink set – and the brand new USB-C model is now starting from $497.99 shipped in select colors. The new USB-C Starlight paint job is at $498 and the Midnight and Blue have dropped a touch to $499 shipped.
Apple’s regularly $549 headphones are a serious investment that’s for sure, but some folks actually adore these things and the prices are now at the lowest they have been on all but the pink set.
While the new USB-C might not be the new AirPods Max 2 some of us hoped for, they do modernize what were already great-sounding cans, and provide some additional color options – here’s some real-world pics of the new Midnight set in action.
It is important to note here for folks who might not be familiar that the new USB-C set is just that – the exact same headphones but with a USB-C charging port and a some new colorways. Considering just about everyone likely still has a Lightning cable laying around somewhere still, if you ask me the only real decision when it comes to scoring a set right now is based around price and color – do you want to pay roughly $100 more for the USB-C port and new colors? Or do you want to score the essentially identical headphones for much less?
