Just ahead of the worldwide debut of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 next week, the Xbox Wire has now unveiled a special edition collection of controllers and the COD Black ops 6 Xbox Series X console wrap. The collection includes a Xbox Wireless Controller as well as an Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and the Xbox Series X Wrap, each designed to “capture the tension and intrigue of the ’90s spy thriller theme, with visual elements that immerse players deeper into the game’s world.” Get a closer look down below.
Official new Xbox Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 controllers and Series X wrap
The controllers are now available to customize and purchase but only via the Xbox Deign Lab, while the new Xbox Series X Wrap – Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is now up for pre-order exclusively through the Microsoft Store at $54.99.
As I’m sure you can imagine if you follow these special edition Xbox controller releases at all, there’s nothing particularly notable about them outside of the aesthetic design, they are indeed the same official Xbox wireless controllers you already know and love.
The top case and side caps of the gamepads are covered in a “layered pattern of redacted documents, hidden coordinates, and concealed Black Ops symbols” that look like they are pulled straight from a trailer from the game.
But considering these are Xbox Design Lab starter designs in many ways, players can “choose from a range of Call of Duty-inspired color options for buttons, triggers, and grips,” alongside various metallic upgrades, rubberized side and back grips, custom engraved messages, and more. All of this applies to both the standard wireless controller and the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2.
The now available for pre-order console wrap carries much of the spy-thriller iconography from the controllers on to your gaming machine. It too features “a layered design inspired by ’90s spy thriller themes, the wrap’s exterior showcases a mind-bending array of redacted documents, classified files, and Black Ops 6 Campaign references.”
It is made with solid panels as well as a “high-quality fabric finish” specifically for Xbox Series X alongside velcro enclosures for a simple, tool-free installation or removal – there’s no adhesives used here at all.
Score one now for $55 from the Microsoft Store and you’ll “receive a one-hour 2XP token for use in Black Ops 6. “
The inside sleeve features a clean, dotted gray pattern marked with the Call of Duty logo in white, and each wrap includes a removable cover for the disc drive to ensure compatibility across all Xbox Series X consoles.
