Red Dead Redemption officially lands on Switch 2 next month, alongside iOS, all current-gen consoles, and Netflix

Red Dead Redemption – Rockstar’s Wild West epic – has been available on Switch for a couple years now, and after details leaked on the ESRB site suggested it would be receiving a native Switch 2 port very soon, Rockstar has made it official – Red Dead Redemption is coming to Switch 2 (and a bunch of other platforms) next month.

Well, it’s not RDR2, but Rockstar is ready to officially bring the sequel (chronologically) to Nintendo’s new platform starting next month, alongside other platforms:

…the epic Western adventures Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare will be available for the latest mobile devices and on current generation consoles — with free upgrades, the ability to carry over game progress, and a number of enhancements.

Players on iOS, Android, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 (and Netflix by the way), will be stepping “into the events immediately following the blockbuster Red Dead Redemption 2, in the critically acclaimed tale of John Marston’s journey to bury his blood-stained past” starting on December 2, 2025.

This announcement includes both the main Red Dead Redemption experience, as well as “its zombie-horror companion” Undead Nightmare – “fight to find a cure for the zombie plague that has overrun the frontier.”

Rockstar says, “all these new versions feature the complete single-player experiences of both games, and also include bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition.”

More players than ever before will be able to experience these classics and take Marston’s journey with them wherever they go with Red Dead Redemption’s debut on compatible iOS and Android devices — which includes mobile-friendly control options. Netflix members will also be able to download and play these versions on December 2 as part of their subscription.

PS5 and Xbox Series X|S gamers “can look forward to a smooth 60 frames per second experience, enhanced image quality, HDR support, and resolutions up to 4K.”

On Nintendo Switch 2, Rockstar says it has taken “full advantage of this new hardware with support for DLSS, HDR, mouse controls, and the same fluid 60 frames per second gameplay at high resolution.”

Okay sweet, I’m totally into all of this, let’s just hope it doesn’t delay GTA 6 again.
