Earlier this week Sony officially announced when its first major State of Play showcase of 2026 would be, and that day has arrived. Throughout the year we get our fair share of these things, some far less special than others, and while we aren’t sure exactly what’s on the slate this afternoon, all signs point to this being a serious showcase.
PlayStation State of Play goes live today
Today’s PlayStation State of Play livestream kicks off 2026 in a major way. Not only are we getting a look at what’s to come on one of gaming’s biggest platforms, but we are getting a full hour of it.
Earlier this week when Sony officially announced today’s showcase, it didn’t really give us many details (as per usual), but it did tell us we were in for a lengthy 60+ minutes of action and brand new games, updates on titles we might have already heard about, and more.
The show will feature “eye-catching third-party and indie games headed to PS5,” but Sony also promised it would be highlighting titles from what sounded a lot like what could be its biggest studios. And there are more than a few that are due at this point.
Tune in live this Thursday for 60+ minutes of news, gameplay updates, and announcements from game studios across the globe. February’s State of Play will spotlight eye-catching third-party and indie games headed to PS5, along with the latest from teams at PlayStation Studios.
One might expect Sony’s big superhero title from Insomniac to get some screen time, but Wolverine isn’t officially scheduled to show its Adamantium claws again until spring of this year. Unless things have pivoted, the most we could hope for a quick teaser about an upcoming showcase and maybe (but probably not) a release date.
I have personally seen more than enough of Marvel Tokon, but that could show up, much like Housemarque’s Saros, and Marathon – these are certainly possibilities, but nothing that’s going to get me anymore or less excited than I already am
That Naughty Dog title though, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, that would be lovely. Not a ton is known about it, and we aren’t expecting it this year, but wow do I need to see more.
Either way, the time is nigh, and we won’t have t wait much longer to find out. The show kicks off at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. PT and we will be watching along with you below:
