First-look at new official Pokémon pinball machines: Animatronic Pikachu, more

Earlier this month high-end pinball machine maker Stern announced an official partnership with The Pokémon Company, and today we are getting our first look and details on the new crossover machines.

First-look at new official Pokémon pinball machines

These are proper, higher-end machines with the official seal of approval or Trainers with a penchant for classic mechanical games (and deep pockets).

As per an official post on the Pokémon site, these machines feature “a colorful playfield decorated with Pokémon imagery” across all of the “ramps, bumpers, and targets you’d expect to find in a pinball game.” A large Poké Ball sits alongside an an animatronic Pikachu, and Team Rocket’s iconic hot air balloon, “along with a screen above the table to show off animations as you play.”

With Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, and Pikachu on your team, you’ll use the table’s flippers and a silver pinball to take a unique Pokémon journey. The game begins with the player entering a random biome: forest, water, mountain, or desert. By hitting the ball at the proper targets on the board, you’ll discover, catch, and train new Pokémon partners. Occasionally, you’ll encounter the troublesome Team Rocket, and you’ll need to prevent them from capturing Pokémon during a frantic multiball sequence.
