Nintendo’s new My Mario app now live: FREE on iOS, Android, and the eShop

Nintendo unveiled its new My Mario toy and collectible lineup last summer before officially launching it stateside last month. Fast forward today and you’ll now find some of the Nintendo Store exclusive live in its New York and San Francisco storefronts as well as the new and very FREE My Mario app available for download on iOS, Android, and on the eShop.

The physical side of the lineup includes this awesome Hello, Mario! Board Book you can score for $12 Prime shipped as well as these plush rattles from $8, a blanket, and more, but there is also an app that goes along with the collection and it is now live on all available platforms:

  • Hello, Mario! eShop FREE
  • Hello, Mario! iOS FREE
  • Hello, Mario! Android FREE

It is a fun, silly sort of experience, and basically more for the kids, but it might also be worth a quick go anyway:

Make Silly Faces

Team up with your kiddo to see how silly Mario can get when you pull and stretch his face or take turns poking and spinning him around. Tap on the ? Block in the top-left corner of the screen and select an icon to make items—like a Super Mushroom, a Super Star, or pipes—and even enemies appear alongside Mario.

Peekaboo!

Invite Mario to play peekaboo by tapping on the leftmost icon in the ? Block menu. Boo may even make a guest appearance!

Built-In Breaks

Good night, Mario! Mario gets tuckered out after playing for a while and will fall fast asleep. At that point no amount of poking can wake him up! This is a great opportunity to take a break and help parents limit their child’s screen time. If you want to keep the fun going, you can turn off this feature by tapping the gear icon in the top-right corner of the screen when the application starts.

On top of the app’s debut, Nintendo has also announced today that “visitors to Nintendo NEW YORK and Nintendo SAN FRANCISCO will find a variety of My Mario products,” including:

  • Two wooden block sets featuring Mario as well as items from the Super Mario series: the Mario Wood Block Set (3 pcs) and a Mario & Friends Wood Block Set (30 pcs).
  • Toys that include fun rattles and cuddly Mario plush.
  • Little People My Mario toys from Fisher-Price featuring toddler-friendly figures and action-packed playsets.
  • Adorable and fashionable onesies and baby and toddler clothes featuring Mario and his Mushroom Kingdom friends.
